Burglar-resistant roller shutters, also known as security rolling shutters, are made from roll-formed special aluminum bars, from extruded aluminum bars and also from steel or stainless steel bars. Unfortunately, some manufacturers often use dubious advertising to present weak standard rolling shutters as "burglar-resistant". Very few of these rolling shutters withstand an attack with a screwdriver, let alone an attempted break-in with the often depicted crowbar.
A roll-formed standard aluminum rolling shutter is not burglar-resistant!
Some standard roller shutter slats, especially in the mini profile, can even be cut very quickly and almost silently with a small pocket knife and pulled out of the guide rails - similar to PVC rolling shutter slats.
Burglar-resistant rolling shutters / security rolling shutters are characterized by 5 features and only the combination of all five together has a burglar-resistant effect:
1. The rolling shutter slats must be made of durable material.
2. The rolling shutter curtain must be secured against being pushed up.
3. The rolling shutter curtain must be secured against being pulled out.
4. The guide rails must be secured against being pried open.
5. The rolling shutter box must be difficult to access.
A remarkable aspect of a security rolling shutter is the additional protection against storm, hail and noise. Due to their material properties, burglar-resistant rolling shutters also have the best properties against these external influences. Our security rolling shutters are RC2 (Oscar and Mini-Oscar) and RC3 (Bullit and Mini-Bullit) certified. As a cost-optimized and also burglar-resistant alternative, we offer our customers our extruded profiles Magnum and Mini-Magnum according to TR 111.
